I believe Van Lith will happen, but Clark has 2 strong programs right in her home state. I hope you're right, of course, but I wouldn't bet on it.

The recruiting speech to her should be....."if you want to win an NCAA title"..... it may not happen in the state of Iowa!

Perhaps not, maybe even probably not.
But Iowa finished number 8 in the nation this year with a record of 29 - 7. Their only top 100 recruit (ESPN) thus far is McKenna Warnock in 2019. She's ranked #84.
Iowa State finished number 17 at 26 - 9. In 2019, they get Maggie McGraw, who is ranked number 46. For 2020, they already have verbals from #17 Lexi Donarski and #42 Emily Ryan. Both of them are listed as point guards.
In any event, neither program is chopped liver, and if she feels strong ties to her home state, well ...

Baylor is going hard after Van Lith (as are others) and Notre Dame is pursuing Clark who identifies closely with the Catholic faith. We shall see by this fall who they choose I think.

UConn never recruited Clark (or Clark early on said not interested) and UConn seems to have moved on from HVL. A few fans hold on to the hope that HVL is a possibility but most know that ship has sailed.

A lot of good info is on there before it hits the streets. So your right when UCONN fans believe in what they believe as far as recruits. ND site is even worse.

I'm quite familiar with the Boneyard and no one there is saying UConn is "right in it" for Clark. There's no mention of Clark and UConn other than to point out UConn isn't recruiting her and never has recruited her. A google search will confirm that. A few Boneyard posters remain hopeful on HVL but it's not happening. Good luck. I hope OSU gets at least one of them.

We’ve pretty much seen the same ~7 schools associated with Clark: Notre Dame, Oregon, Oregon State, Iowa, Iowa State, Drake, and Texas.
With Van Lith, a lot of Baylor, UConn, Oregon, Oregon State, Louisville, etc.

Did not quite say that it was only U-Conn fans only because it is a cross mixed board. UCONN is having a hard on for HVL and ND fans are having a hard on for Clark per UCONN boards members who are both Husky and Irish fans intermingled. Whether it happens or not only a handful of sources really know and the rest are fans with Christmas lists.

Whatever. What you say about UConn and HVL is wrong, among other things.

With the additions of Paige Bueckers, Ania Makurat, and Nika Muhl, it makes a whole lot of sense that UConn would back off of Van Lith. Baylor has continued to recruit her very hard, perhaps Mulkey sees the second coming of herself.
This has been brought up before, but Notre Dame is still likely heavily recruiting Clark. They have added Katlyn Gilbert, Jordan Nixon, Anaya Peoples, and Alli Campbell who are all listed as PGs, but apparently none of them will actually play PG at Notre Dame. Iowa State also has added its fair share of PGs, as has Oregon.
In terms of early playing time, it is something Rueck can use as a recruiting tool. Destiny and Aleah will each have one year (or Destiny will be gone), and Simmons will be our only other guard. Unless he uses a big lineup, this means that we could see Clark or Van Lith getting early minutes due to a lack of depth.
In the ideal situation, Slocum, Goodman, and Simmons handle the backcourt duties and Goforth and Clark/Van Lith play the backup roles. Then in the following season Clark/Van Lith, Goforth, and Simmons anchor the backcourt, with Payton Verhulst backing them up.
It is very interesting that we will go to strong depth on the perimeter to strong depth on the inside. Two big potential wildcards here are Brown and Aquino, because it remains to be seen if they actually are able to successfully play the 3 at the college level. I think offensively you could definitely have Aquino in the high post and Brown in the corner with a post down low in certain scenarios, but it is an unproven idea.
