Aleah has gone cold from 3.
Kat is having one heck of an all-around game.

Foul on Maddie was the worst call of the night.

One St. Mary’s player who impressed me the whole night was their freshman Aussie, #21 Sam Simons I think. Wonder if we recruited her.

So Saint Mary’s beat WSU by 6?
Doesn’t say much for the Cougs.

St. Mary's is a good team but they just can't keep up with the Beavers. To bad we can't win without a huge post presence as some claim Yeah... that's what was said! Lol... way to ruin a thread with idiotic post.

Or it says something about the Beav's. The ref's were making some strange ticky tacky calls and then Trish and Jo almost got bent over a couple of times being hammered but no call. The Beav's definitely need to work on their fouling but it was kinda silly out there sometimes. If it's not effecting play and no one's hurt then DON"T CALL IT. Watching folks standing at the ft line really isn't all that exciting.
Taya isn't shooting very well from the 3 but is fine from shorter range. I wonder if she doesn't have her shoulder strength built back up yet?
Destiny is the real thing. Twice she got herself open by the basket but kicked it out to get others open shots to get them involved. She could pretty much get herself a layup any time she wanted.
Jo impressed with her all around game. Next it's going to be the big time up north and we will see what she can really do.
3 point shooting about the same as the FT shooting. People are going to start hauling back and slugging them when they try to shoot 3's at this rate.
Another training game. When are they going to get a challenge? Oh yeah, real soon.

I too wonder about Taya's shoulder strength, but she was also not as aggressive as we have seen her in the past this game. I assume she is working her way back to full strength....
As several on this board had projected, Mik relieved of ball handling duties has a lot more energy for rebounding, loose balls, dribble drives, etc.
DS has the ability to do something at PG we have really not had in the SR era - the ability to manufacture her own shot off the dribble at will. I am not talking about the high ball screen for a 3 that we have gone to in past years, but about something going towards the basket, either resulting in a jumper in the paint or at the rim. This could be huge for us when the shot clock is running down in close games......
Kat is trying to slash more, with an established 3 shot, she might be able to take defenders on the dribble, but her midrange pull-up is a work in progress.
Maddie looks more comfortable in the midrange game, and she is really starting to rebound with authority and abandon.
Janessa might be our energizer easy shot player - either to set the tone for the game (as she did by starting tonight) or even coming off the bench to counter a "lull" if we ever have one of those.....
SR seems to be trying to figure out what he is going to do against smaller, faster teams without lumbering bigs for JG or PM to match up against. I noted in a different thread his new wrinkle on BLOBs, and he also has a "stack 4 and then spread out" inbound play that looks new this year as well. Our Forwards better make sure then can jump stop, seems like we saw a lot of PG racing down the court, passing off to the forward at the arc for a try at inbounding to the big in the paint.
I wonder if SR will shorten the rotation as much this year - all 11 so far seem to bring something to the party, and he can play much more uptempo if he spreads the minutes to the depth he is right now......
Aleah's ball handling has improved leaps and bounds (likely from dealing with DS for a year), but that coupled with her 3 balling makes her a great changeup to DS (or when DS just gets so hyped that SR has to sit her for a second). Again, SR doesn't seem too interested in slowing DS down (though he did tell her to calm down at one point in the game), he is using her energy to speed up the team, and then using Aleah judiciously. Aleah's hustle has also seen an uptick if you ask me.
We will really learn something about this team in Vancouver. It will start out like deja vu from March Madness with the Hilltoppers, and then things get very interesting......
Go Beavers!

One of the intriguing lineups was sometime in the second half when Destiny, Aleah and Mik were on the floor together. Point Guard Supreme, 2 year backup PG & last years PG, all together. That combination could reek havoc at times season...and with leading rebounder Pivec in there, the height thing might not be that big of a deal.
