"an astronomical amount of money"Former Adidas executive Jim Gatto has implicated the Oregon Ducks in the recruitment scandal involving 2017 5-star recruit Brian Bowen.According to Yahoo Sports' Dan Wetzel, Gatto's attorney said Tuesday at trial that Oregon put "an astronomical amount of money" in front of Bowen in order to secure his commitment. Bowen signed with the Louisville Cardinals but left the school in January in the wake of the scandal.Hey, I think this would be a good argument for all of those ducky players to use to justify an immediate transfer to OSU and for being able to play immediately here! They just cannot be expected to play for a corrupt administration, can they?

What I find interesting is the guy admits to offers of 100k and 150k being made by some schools, then refers to oregon's offer as being "astronomical". Hopefully it will come out what the dux offer was.

This will get interesting. It's not a question of it they were cheating, it's how much. Recruits of that level don't just suddenly start considering a long-time non-factor Oregon unless money is involved.

SMU Death Penalty anyone? That matters, because of this rule change the NCAA announced in August: “People charged with investigating and resolving NCAA cases can accept information established by another administrative body, including a court of law [or] government agency.”
Any evidence that turns up during this trial or any of the other trials stemming from this FBI investigation can be used by the NCAA to punish people breaking their by-laws
We shall see..........
Go Beavs!!

I have been 'suggesting', since the very first reports, that the schmucks had to be messed up in this somehow. Dana ' Deliverance Banjo Boy' is a crook , and that is just based on the bathroom basketball fiasco. So , what is likely to happen ? Oh , if money talks....... we are likely to see another 'look the other way' kind of moment. Their gear giveaways are obscene Their unabashed use of Phil's money, while pretending not to be a 'Company' running a University is laughable Their over the edge camps are nothing but free recruiting scams ( basketball and football ) Their win at all cost philosophy for sports is damaging ANY idea of a kid getting an actual education But, at the end of the day , they always CHOKE when they do get an opportunity - so I am happy to see them keep fooling themselves. Let's see , right now - they are the toast of college football and their QB is tops on the Heisman list...yeah right - we will see how far that takes them.

Unfortunately, it is highly unlikely that the ucks will get any penalties from this. The feds have completed their investigation and they did not charge anyone from uo. The fact that uo's name is being thrown around in the trial without any hard evidence is not going to do anything to hurt them. The NCAA cannot penalize them based on hearsay.
….of course they're cheating, they just haven't been caught yet.

From my review of this matter awhile ago, I believe that Nike/Oregon may be falling into a legal loophole. The investigation is into acts that are not technically illegal in the State of Oregon. Thus, the feds lack jurisdiction, unless Oregon committed those same acts outside of the State of Oregon.
The schools getting caught up in this are in states with different laws, which allow the feds to get involved.

This will get interesting. It's not a question of it they were cheating, it's how much. Recruits of that level don't just suddenly start considering a long-time non-factor Oregon unless money is involved. Hmmm.....Ducks make a Final Four with mid-level 3 and 4 star players, while putting FOUR of them into the NBA. Then they start getting "recruits of that level" after years of being a "long-time non-factor".
Doesn't mean that they didn't cheat and spread money around. Getting better recruits usually follows what Altman was able to accomplish. If Tinkle can make a miracle deep run this March and puts some of his boys into the League...recruits will come knocking.
