1) is this the right board to discuss this? 2) I keep looking, but I can't find where this has been discussed. If it has, please point me to the right thread. From the RG:It works for me because I go to the games to watch the games. It is sad to see the stands half as full at the start of the second half compared to the first half, and that is if the score is close. I do agree that queue mgmt. will be important so those who just want food aren't stuck in a beer line and vice versa. If this works (watch the impressive fan ejection count from Oddsen), I fully expect OSU to move to it next season.

"The Autzen Stadium experience is the best and most magical in college football," Wow. Holy hyperbole. In the end this is about the money. Expanding the alcohol sales within the UO, keeps people from hitting the tailgate to drink their own booze. Secondarily, more people stay in the stadium. Let's face it, some people go to games for the social aspect and sitting/standing in the stadium/cheering and watching the game is secondary.

I think this is more of a money grab than anything else. Captive audience...give 'em what they want...and charge 'em a premium for the "convenience".

I think in their case it's going to be a failed attempt, at least early, to keep folks in the stands. That place is empty in the 3rd qtr. But with the crappy out of conference games they play this year, coupled with the good weather, I'm confident that people will still leave to socialize at half. Face it, watching a non-competitive blowout isn't entertaining from either perspective.

Can't their fans also access the Moshofsky Center without leaving the stadium? If so, they can still leave their seats at halftime, but it keeps all of the money with the stadium. We should dig a tunnel to Truax.

We should dig a tunnel to Truax. No, they are outside the stadium if they go to the Moshofsky Center. That will not be an option.

Moshofsky is outside of Autzen but this line from the article makes it unclear (at least to me) if the Mo will be off limits during the game, at half or what. Maybe they are only referring to pre-game?

I think this is more of a money grab than anything else. Captive audience...give 'em what they want...and charge 'em a premium for the "convenience". If they're "giving people what they want," isn't that what business is all about? Or do you subscribe to the theory of "giving them what they don't want?" Of course it's about the money. But no one forces anyone to buy an overpriced beer, either at Autzen, at Goss, or at any MLB/NFL/NBA/NHL/college venue in the country. They have been quietly exploring stadium-wide alcohol at Reser for several years. I suspect we'll see it next year.

Barnes presented the plan for Reser at the May Faculty Senate meeting. Basically the same: no re-entry and expanded sales in the stadium. He admitted that there was hope for a financial boost from the plan. Here's a link to that part of the Senate meeting: media.oregonstate.edu/media/0_j8hrxdqn

They are referring to pre-game. You are making an assumption.

You are making an assumption. No, I'm not. Look up the definition of "re-entry".

The oregonlive article has been updated to clarify that you can go back and forth between the dump and the cesspool.
