Katie McWilliams' week must still be a week away because this week is Destiny Slocum's week to be profiled on the BeaverWBB Twitter site.
The first Tweet related to Slocum is below. There appears to be a pattern of one Tweet per featured player per day.

Hmm.. will Jo’s be after or before Katie? I would guess Katie last They save the best for last so of course it will be KtMac! I'm looking forward to seeing Destiny on the court in a beaver uniform. Maybe then all the speculation of her greatness will be put to rest, at least for the next couple years.

Like you, I very much look forward to seeing her play.

If the program decides to push and promote a player for post-season honors this year it will be Katie Mac.... It's way too soon to get the SID involved in any sophisticated, on-going promotion of Destiny...If that happens it will be next year...
Kat Tudor is a year away, but if she produces big numbers this season she will definitely be hyped and promoted next year....
It's possible that the Beavs will decide to push two names into the All Pac-12 awards race this season - if so, it probably will be Pivec & Katie... The Beavs have established themselves as a Team's team, so when they promote individuals they have to be somewhat cautious... At the same time, Big Time teams must have recognizable names and faces - the media loves it, the fans love it, the donors love it....
I think that for starters Katie Mac will be the "face" of this year's Beavers...That might change by Christmas... I don't know this first hand, but my guess is that Coach R & Staff hold Katie Mac in very, very high esteem...
My guess: If she avoids injury she will be this year's MVP... GO BEAVS !!.

You're really going out on a limb here. SR has stated that he believes that Katie is *better* than Jordin Canada. The man isn't exactly playing this close to the vest.

Katie is a premiere player and I think we all know it.... But to believe that Coach thinks she is a better player than Jordan Canada just because he said it to her during a timeout in the heat of an intense, thrilling, hotly contested home game is a considerable stretch...
Jordin Canada is one of the very best WBB players to come out of the Pac-12 in the past 10 years. She was a #5 draft pick in the WNBA.... She is the 1st WBB in Pac-12 history to score 1,800 points AND dish out 700 assists. Along with Gary Payton she is one of only two players in Pac-12 history to accomplish this remarkable feat. Jordin finished her career #3 in Pac-12 history in steals. She was a semi-finalist for the Wooden Award which honors the Nation's Top Player....
So, yes, Katie is a great player and possibly the best on our current roster, but she is no Jordan Canada and no one really thinks she is. Including Coach Rueck. Motivational coach-speak in mid-game aside.
Back to the main point of my previous post. Katie Mac is the Beavs leading contender for Pac-12 honors this year. And while not recognized by most fans, I think she is viewed by the coaches as the team MVP.
That's it......GO BEAVS !!

EXCEPT... - most true fans who watch hoops closely, especially OSU WBB, know Katie and her value to the team. - coaches truly don't "push for" All Pac12 honors. Maybe to get a special player some recognition and a HM nod, but 1st Team is a vote of the other 11 coaches. SR can nominate, but if he wants a player/his team recognized he puts forth the player other coaches see as his best player. - so unless Katie becomes more of a threat than she has been overall on the offensive end, coupled with her other skills and leadership qualities she's not going to get those opposing coaches votes. - the quality "coaches on the floor", complete all-around players, highly respected leaders in their own locker room often are over looked for such plaudits. Personally know her and the family and she prob will be voted by teammates and coaches their MVP, but don't see her as a 1st Team Pac12 honoree unless something dramatically different happens this season. And, that's not saying if it doesn't she's failed. She's has had, and will have had a great career at OSU.

Wow, you guys are such strong supporters of the program. Anyone else on the team you want to beat down? Why the team won any games last year is beyond me, with losers such as Ktmac around it's a wonder they didn't get embarrassed every game.
Could you go support Ducks for a while?
And yes, Ktmac IS a better player than Canada.
If I wanted someone shut down I would easily prefer her to Canada. Canada got a lot of steals, but she also ended up out of position a lot because of that. Canada was also limited because of her height. Yes, she was Pac-12 co-defensive player of the year, but those voters obviously worship steals just like you do. But Ktmac's team voted her defensive player of the year over the other Pac-12 defensive player of the year, Marie. Maybe they know something you don't?
At the end of a game who do you want making that shot to win the game, Canada or Ktmac?
And yes, Canada scored a bunch of points at UCLA, but they needed her to do that as there was no one older on the team to do the scoring. That was not the case with Ktmac, there were always plenty of peeps before her to take care of that part of things. So no, Ktmac hasn't scored lots of points, and at OSU she never will because that's not how it works here. Scoring is spread around.
If I was starting a team and had to choose between the two I would go with Ktmac no sweat.
You are not keeping it real, you are just being passive aggressive.

LMAO... being a supporter doesn't mean being "blind". You start your team with anyone you want, your choice. I'm betting the WBNA doesn't agree. As far as the rest of your take... do you watch pay attention to women's college hoops? "Canada scored a bunch of points at UCLA, but they needed her to do that as there was no one older on the team to do the scoring." Huh... older? No one else to score in that UCLA team? Lol... And, I'm pretty sure you don't know how to recognize/use "passive aggressive" in this discussion. 🍻

"being a supporter doesn't mean being "blind"" There you go again, keeping it real, NOT being passive aggressive. Please, point out when you are being supportive, I'm too blind to see it.
"No one else to score in that UCLA team? Lol..." Since her freshman year only one person has outscored her average at UCLA, and that as a Frosh. Yes, the scoring has pretty much been on her and Billings shoulders her entire career at UCLA.

Why the team won any games last year is beyond me, with losers such as Ktmac around it's a wonder they didn't get embarrassed every game. Could you go support Ducks for a while? And yes, Ktmac IS a better player than Canada. I have expressed my opinion on Katie before and received a great deal of flak after saying she had very little chance of being an all Pac-12 first team selection, so I pretty much agree with BaseBa11 on this, whether he likes it or not. Yes, she's a quality player. Yes, you want her to have the ball in her hands when it comes down to a big final shot. Yes, she's smart. But because she's tall and skinny, she lacks foot-speed and she can't attack the basket well offensively and by her own admission (spoken to the press before the start of last season regarding speculation on who would be the starting point guard) has trouble playing against shorter, quicker players. It's nuts to expect her to suddenly become someone else in her senior year after 3 years of solid but (usually) unspectacular performance. Her stats just don't justify the over-the-top praise that people are piling on her, and the WNBA will have no interest in her at all. Saying these things does not mean that I'm not a supporter of the program or that I don't like KatieMac. She's obviously been critical to our success, but so have numerous other players. Tudor and Pivec have also been critical to our success, and I don't see how you can say Katie has been more valuable than they have been. Pivec had 68 offensive rebounds this last year, and Katie had 5. Pivec had 27 steals to KM's 8. Katie averaged 8.1 ppg while Pivec and Tudor averaged 11 and 12, respectively. She was 2nd on the team in assists behind Pivec. She is good, but she is not an all-star. Looking at the stats, there was one obvious standout on the team, and that was Gulich, leading by a wide margin in scoring, FG%, rebounds, and blocks. KatieMac was down in the mix along with everyone else. It's a performance like Gulich put in this year that qualifies her for all-Pac-12 honors and a WNBA bid. Katie is not at that level.

Is this the "Destiny Slocum" thread?

Is this the "Destiny Slocum" thread?
It's the Godwin's Law of Bernice's Place. All threads end up being an argument over just how not-that-good Katie Mac is. Her feet are slow, she's too timid, she lacks strength, . . . It's a wonder she gets any minutes at all . . . let alone MORE MINUTES THAN MARIE GULICH.
My prediction for 2018-19: - Katie Mac leads the team in minutes played. - Katie Mac is either first or second on the team in scoring, and has significant assist, rebound, and block numbers. - Katie Mac is on at least one All-Pac team. At the very least, All-Defensive. - Katie Mac is named the team MVP. - At least one major sports page has an article on Katie Mac, her "senior breakthrough", and how OSU has exceeded expectations and is contending for another championship/Sweet 16/Final Four/... because of her improvement. - Kraft comes out with a special edition "Katie Mac-and-Cheese", using long, curly pasta and white cheese.
If I'm right, I am filling the pantry with that stuff.

I think Slocum will lead the team in assists without a doubt. I think we will have a lot of scorers, at least 5 (Slocum, Tudor, Pivec, McWilliams, and Corosdale) averaging around 10PP at the least. Any of those 5 can score 20 on any given night. Hopefully Aquino or Morris can average around 10 by the time conference play rolls around and establish themself as our starting center
