I think the APA memo lays it out in very diplomatic, (overly) technical, abstract language.
The 3rd paragraph is the key one:
"Early investigations indicate that a process change in the manufacturing introduced temperature variations in the laminations that inadvertently caused premature curing of the adhesive, resulting in dry glue lines and poor bonding."
Sounds pretty technical. I'll just add these 4 descriptives:
Cold day
End of shop open to weather
Temporary heaters to keep workers comfortable
Cured the glue before the panels were assembled
That's what I'm hearing. Hopefully they got their process fixed. According to the APA memo:
"The manufacturer has addressed this manufacturing anomaly and implemented additional manufacturing and quality control measures."
