There are a lot to choose from, now. Responses are sure to be interesting.
Senior year Wetzler is my pick, but it's hard to pick from so many aces.
Gaviglio, Buck, Fry, Moore, Nickerson, Wetzler, Boyd, Ira and plenty others I haven't named.

For me it's hard to pick against Jonah after all the big games on short rest versus the best teams the nation had to offer. All had great qualities... but none can really top those results. And bottom line for a pitcher is the big W's he is "responsible" for, although we all know there much more than JUST pitching involved.

I think I agree..... Jonah. I'm hoping that in a few years we will put Rasmussen in this multiple choice question.... time will tell.

Initial thought was Gundy. Then remember watching Gavs from right behind home plate. Of course we are leaving out a bunch of guys pre CWS runs. Andrew Checketts, Scott Anderson, and a few others
Going to go Matt. Because when he was on the biggest stage he won while battling MONO!

I think I would put my money on Matt Boyd to start and Gundy in the pen just in case Matt does not go the distance.

1st 1-0 game at CWS since 1977Matt Boyd's performance in Omaha should have gotten him a CWS MVP. It was one for the ages. In a clutch, must win situation, I can't think of anyone I'd rather have on the mound. Nickerson, Gundy, and the others were great, but Matty B delivered the goods while he had mono. He literally refused to lose, and instead went out and pitched one of the best games of his young life. Amazing.

The problem with this question is that there is too many good choices.
I have to go with Jonah Nickerson. He pitched 3 times in Omaha with elimination on the line. On short rest. Series MVP
Some notes from that series:
Oregon State is only the second team to play eight games in a single CWS, joining Stanford in 2003.
The Beavers were the first team to win six elimination games and the first to lose twice in a single CWS and win the national title
Oregon State finished the CWS with a .987 fielding percentage, the best for a champion since Miami also fielded .987 in 2001.

I'd go with Boyd...he was built to go 9 innings. Nasty slider and could pump a low 90's fastball that painted the corners all day long.

I would have to go with Wetzler. I don't think he was the most talented of the group but he was a bulldog and so mentally tough and somehow just knew how to get the win.

One more vote for Nickerson, but really, there are a lot of pitchers I would have no problem to discover they were starting.
