-we'll ever beat SC again.
-we'll realistically expect to beat SC again and feel legitimately let down if we don't.
-we'll finish among the top 3 teams in the conference.
-we'll see an OSU fb player named All American again.
-we'll see multiple Beavers taken in the nfl draft.
-we'll make a bowl game.
-we'll win a bowl game.
-we'll ever win 6 in a row against the Huskies again (4 at Husky stadium).
I hope GA finds a winning formula. I wonder however if we'll ever experience the success we achieved under MR anytime in the coming decade/decades.

When did we ever realistically expect to beat SC? Been watching since 1961, and don't recall ever being a favorite over SC. But to answer your pissy little question, I would say as soon as MR comes back to Oregon State: and all the snowflakes in Oregon grow a pair: and Hillary becomes President of USA.

Like we all miss taking a time out right after a delay of game is called.

I don't speak for we, but I expected we had a good chance to finally win in L.A. in 2009 after an exciting win over Stanford the week before. Judging by the post game reaction after we lost in the final minutes I wasn't alone. I expected to beat them in 2010. We did 36-7. To answer your question I last expected to beat them in 2013. That's what beating them 3 straight times in a row at Reser will do for ones expectations going into the fourth meeting.

I'd say his question was less pissy than your salty-ass reply man. people are allowed to think that 6 wins in two season and a cluster effe of a QB situation is not okay. There is legitimate basis for his question. we had a standard expectation set. One that MR himself was not matching in the last couple years. We have no compelling signs that we are going to return to that standard anytime soon. I too, expected to beat them in 2013. We did not, and I'd say it was the turning point for the worse in the final end run of MR days and last 1.5 season here.

What's giving me the blues is the fact you don't offer a remotely modest attempt at convincing me in another year or two we'll be back to that level of expectation. Blues definition: Hoping for only 6 wins out of 12 and getting less.

So how do you recommend we discuss past expectations against future expectations in a more "pc" way that's suitable to you?

As the resident "lit candle for Mike Riley" expert around here - Even I somewhat agree with devildog. *Mike Riley won 3 games in 14 seasons vs. USC, and has been noted before, he lost to FCS teams almost as often as he beat USC. *Finishing in the Top 3 is harder now than it was for most of Riley's tenure - there's two more teams to climb over now to get there. *Making a bowl game is not a very high hurdle to clear - especially considering future non-conference schedules. In the six seasons since we went to the Pac-12, we've averaged one non conference game against a P5 team (or BYU) a season. We have four such games scheduled for the next 8 seasons right now (still have 5 holes to fill.) *It's not completely out of the question that DeCoud and Harlow both go in the draft this month. *As for All-Americans, Riley had 15 players named 1st Team All Americans (7 regular, 8 freshman) in his 14 seasons as head coach. Andersen has had two in two (Lavaka and Crawford were both Freshman All Americans in 2016). I'm more worried about when the next time we're going to win 10 games is. Riley set the ceiling at 9. I'm looking for something comparable.
