Suppose WCC
Suppose we, OSU WBB, enter the WCC this year: (Thinking Very Good Year)
WCC Teams + W/L record: Gonzaga (16-0 in conference, 14th rank), Santa Clara (12-4), Portland (10-6), San Francisco (10-6), Pacific (8-8), Saint Mary’s (6-10), Loyola (5-11), San Diego (4-12), Pepperdine (1-15).
# WCC Players In Transfer Portal per team: Santa Clara (6, one second leading scorer in WCC) San Francisco (1, From West Linn, starter), Saint Mary’s (7, one form Lebanon, OR). San Diego (5). Portland (4), Pacific (0). Pepperdine (4)
Stats: Easy to see our players (AJ, Kennedie, Kelsey, Heide, Navarro, and Susana) playing epically well in the WCC

Scott needs to find some that are able to create and shoot 3s.

Rueck and two very inexperienced coaches trying to find players with very little time. Challenging I'd guess.

True, but it's not clear to me how much recruiting he does now days. I think he mostly deals with existing players and community relations. But I could be wrong.

Prospect Nation + Transfer Portal still have a bunch of solid DIV 1 players to build around. No ESPN types, but plenty DIV 1 players. Just no stars that I could see. Doom Staying would be great.

Scott needs to find some that are able to create and shoot 3s. FWIW----Susana was specifically recruited because she showed good 3 pt shooting ability in the JC tournament 2 years ago, and I saw good 3 pt shooting from Kelsey early in the season against WCC type defenses and although her 3 pt shot tanked against the tougher Pac-12 defenses I would look for her to be back on track with her 3's next season in the WCC. Also if by chance "Doom" does opt out of the portal and stay she is also a capable 3 pt shooter. As far as Kennedie goes she didn't shoot outside much this year opting to drive to the hoop for most of her offense but I believe she was a decent 3 pt shooter in HS---greybeav you can correct me if I'm wrong on this since you followed her Sr. HS career pretty closely.

Jimbob, you are right about Susana, as for Kennedie, I tried to refresh my memory. She took very few 3pt attempts senior year in HS because her team mate Anne Koenig was such a dead-eye from 3. My memory is that she was decent at long distance but I can't find stats for her senior year at Barlow to confirm anything. I remember being surprised how many times she passed up 3pt open shots this year for OSU. She only attempted 7 all year and only made 1. Too many other good shooters to pass to probably and never got into rhythm.

We're in serious need of some offensive help to even contend in the upper half of the wcc right now. I would be looking for a PG that can score and create, two 3 and d kids and a big that can get you a double double often. The roster is mostly girls that would be coming off the bench at University of Portland. Rees and AJ being the exception.

Interesting. Like Santa Clara's Tess Heal, in the Portal, 2nd in scoring WCC...

GO BEAVS!!
