The rap "song" in the background certainly added a lot to my enjoyment.*
* sarcastic statement

Reminded me that Beers versatility eliminated Coloroado’s biliary to harass our guards all 64’ of the court. That is a big deal, especially at altitude. Really clever solve by the coaching staff, and probably only OSU and Stanford have players that can pull it off.

I have no idea who came up with it but after the first game she did it in she was asked about it. IIRC, she said she was doing whatever she can to help the team. Interesting that opponents really don't defend it, there have a couple attempts that weren't successful. Raegan can handle the ball for her size.

Why? If you look around at Gill at every game, you'll see grandfathers and grandmothers 'aplenty; 20 year olds, not so much. The ratio is 10 to 1, or higher. Is the video meant to appeal to the 12 team members, but not the 5,000 old farts who show up at Gill to support them? And why would you have any music at all? Would you want to watch a youtube video of an artist you like singing a song you like, and have Ron Callan calling a women's hoops game in the background? Don't you think the young ladies on the team watching that video are doing so to see themselves shine and hear Ron describe it? If they liked that song, wouldn't they simply play it by itself?

Hip hop music isn’t my thing. But I thought it worked with these floor-level highlights and Ron’s v/o. But that’s just me. I wouldn’t have shared the clip if I thought it sucked.

We are all setting aside time and energy to watch these young women show their skills and personality a few hours a week. If we are doing so, I’d just as soon it was accompanied by their music, 2024 music, not Lionel Richie or John Phillip Souza.
I just watched the movie “Air”, about Nike signing Michael Jordan. The music was all from the 80s. These videos, packaged as little documentaries, capture a moment in the same way. My 22-year-old son, who goes to all the games, knows every word.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if we like the music or not. I’d much rather our social media team focus on how we can appeal to the younger recruits.
And I, for one, enjoyed the background music. I thought it was their best cinematic recap yet. Pumped for this weekend! Go beavs!!
