I solved the word. Just CAN’T figure out it’s relationship to CFB. Then again, I R A MoRon If it’s what I’m thinking it MIGHT be, wouldn’t it be more of a NFL related “thing?”

The word was easy to solve. It is an official thing in college as of 30 some days ago from several reports I've read, but I'm also reading it may have been officially adopted around Pearl Harbor day of last year. Times change.

I'm not sure if yesterday's word was about protecting a QB from getting hit while sliding (long a college thing) or protecting a defense from a fake QB slide (a very recent rule). So this is the play that led to the adoption of the QB fake slide rule in college football. Didn't look like a premeditated fake slide to me, more like deciding to change direction on the fly and catching their toe or a side of a foot on the turf. Hard to say if it was intentional, but I'm not sure you can practice a full speed fraction of a slide that that effectively. I think the announcer gave him more credit than deserved.

Down to my last attempt and stuck with s i _ e _
With the letters I have left, I can't even make a word. Guessing it's a name I'm not familiar with.

Yesterday's word was weird, I just put in the only letters that could make any kind of sense at all even though it's not a real word. It worked, then I googled it and it is indeed a football reference- it's been a hand signal and a yell for a particular school since the early 70s.

Like in "Sic 'em Bears!" what the Baylor fans yell at games.
