I have been searching for an answer as to why I do not enjoy watching or rooting for the Wayne Tinkle OSU basketball teams.
I believe I have figured out the "why" for me. I would enjoy hearing from others who also do not enjoy watching the product he is putting out on the floor.
I enjoy watching teams that have a foundation of fundamentals and from that base also have a definite plan of action (both on offense and defense).
I see that with Coach Rueck's teams.
I saw that with Coach Ralph Miller's teams.
I see that with the Gonzaga Men's team every year ( I have lived in Spokane for the past several years).
I realize that I also saw that with Coach Tinkle's first team at OSU. Due to absolute necessity, that team had to play with intensity and purpose on defense. They did so and fans were attracted to that team.
Since then, to me the team has no real identity and the Coach mainly seems to give us nothing but cliches and "coach talk"-such as "we weren't ready to play", etc.,etc.
I could elaborate further, but I believe my position is clear.
I can tolerate losing (you are not a Beaver fan if you can not do that!). I can not tolerate watching no attempt at enough planning and effort to have a chance to succeed
Again, I would appreciate the thoughts of others. Thank you!

I watch every post-game press conference which is posted. I'm frustrated that there is no progress towards fixing the issues that coach calls out repeatedly (lack of intensity, not following game plan, lack of fundamentals). I'm confused as to why the primary culprits are the coaches' sons. If my dad's job was on the line, I'd sure as heck be doing what he asked. That leads me to presume there is a level of entitlement in the locker room that makes, for me, the coaching staff unlikable. I wish for more humility but that is not going to happen.

I’ve given up on Beaver basketball (men’s). I can root for a losing team and be proud of their effort if they embody that which makes playing a sport worthwhile, namely teamwork, sportsmanship, a strong work ethic, and improvement. Fundamentally, that’s what a sports program at a university should be about, and I don’t see much of that in men’s basketball at OSU. It’s a shame.

For me, it is that the team has no personality. The players have no personality. The coaches and players just seem to be playing out their time and may have already moved on to something else. The lack of game planning (or apparent lack thereof) and adjustments is mind numbing. And switching from man to zone every so often, then putting on a press once in a while, is not making adjustments.
I love basketball. I love the Beavers. I cannot bring myself to watch this team play, and have not been able to for the past two years.

Maybe the disappointment from this latest flop hasn't finished washing over you. Believe me, i get that. i can't even go to Fred Meyer's today without seeing the organ dux shirt wearing public and being embarrased all over again. Yeah these are maybe not the greatest basketball talents or minds currently on the Men's team, but they are not the worst since this current ice age began. They may even be the best in that period. Best record, best non-troublemakers, best grades. It could be worse. If we had a bunch of low-grade having, public incident having, drama llamas on this team i would be right there giving up with ya.

Are we asking the right questions. We have been pretty poor since Miller with a few Years. We have a great practice facility as does everyone else. We have always been short on facilities. We are fine with them, but it isn't us that are playing.Gill will only Rock with a good product. Everyone one but WSU have decent Arenas to play in. Only success can counteract this. We are so far in debt that I don't see a way out. We need to finish the Stadium and renovate and modernize Gills seating. Some improvements have been made but that is not what draws folks. We don't promote,we don't operate like having Ladies Games and Men's games before conference starts to draw interest. We don't do anything during football season to develope that interest. In Basketball. It never seems ro be planned well. Limited fan access is also a problem so we don't know what is really going on. All in all we have a team that plays without fundamentals and purpose. The School needs to wake up and change how it Markets and how it tries to draw more fans. More questions than answers.
