Washington State ended up scoring the run and tying the game. Arizona State won it in the bottom of the ninth on a walk off home run.

Terrible mechanics. Once you see he has hit 3rd, you need to be moving your ass back to home to cover a possible play there. The are FOUR umpires. If 3B goes out, 2B takes care of 2nd and then moves toward 3rd with lead runner. 1B takes the batter-runner through 1st and onto 2nd.

I was wondering who had the play at the plate if the runners steam rolls the plate umpire in the coaching box but keeps going for home Like sandlot....cal your own

Rule of umpiring--once you go out, you don't come back. Decades ago saw a picture, umpire that went out came back and a play at 3rd, one is calling runner safe, other is ringing him up. Exactly why if you go out, you stay out. Essentially then there were three man mechanics. Like I said, 2b has 2nd and 3rd depending where the throw goes, he gets his position between 2nd and 3rd. 1B has batter runner to second and HP takes care of home. Home obviously, is the most important base and you take care of it.
