Undeserved? Are you smoking gas or something? Tell Big G and Stevie that they have to hang 'em up, so that Big East #9 can play poorly on a national stage. Having watched the Big East play some terrible basketball all year, up until and including watching Purdue (Big Ten #2) dismantle a very poor Nova (Big East #1) in what was basically a home game for Nova, I can definitely say that Oregon State could and would beat Big East #6-#9 more times than not on a neutral court. Including all four over the Beavers was a joke, just like including San Diego and excluding Oregon State. We had our chance. We needed to beat Colorado. We fizzled down the stretch We had a chance to lock up a bid, but Oregon State still should have received a bid. Oregon State was better than Georgetown and clearly better than San Diego and Toledo. All three get boat raced by the Beavers more times than not.

Is 3-2 so far; one team eliminated by a No. 1 seed, which would beat 60 teams in the tournament, not just Washington. Seeding matters. uo will win today, advance to Sweet 16, so we will be 4-2, with half of the non-play-in teams in the Sweet 16.
Colorado will win, advances to final 8 of the NIT. Again, show me where the Big East, which was highly regarded, is any better than the Pac-12.

Nobody cares unless you're playing in it, true. But is another indicator of the depth of a particular conference.

I guess people here forget how bad the conference was, and we sputtered at the end, just because the ONE hot team (that improbably turned their season around) from the Pac-12 is still in it.
At the end of the day, it's still our team's fault for not making it, the wins there were there to be taken at the end.

A team that finished 2-5 and as a 4 seed with a bye gets boat raced in its conference tournament? The WT excuses are flowing downhill to the fan base...

No one is "whing." Nice straw dog. Simply saying that it would not have been out of line for OSU to receive a NIT bid, based on the especially poor performance of the multi-NCAA and NIT-bid Big East in the postseason.

If you do not consider some of the above novelettes 'whines', let's just agree we have far different definitions.

A team that finished 2-5 and as a 4 seed with a bye gets boat raced in its conference tournament? The WT excuses are flowing downhill to the fan base... This team was more talented than multiple teams in the NCAA Tournament and played better against better teams. This team both deserved and earned an NIT bid. The fact that this team was not considered for an NCAA bid is a sign that the other teams in the conference did not hold their own against lesser competition. The fact is that Oregon State was a game away from making an NIT bid a no-brainer, but the Beavers still should have received an invite. Saying that comparing teams in and out of the various fields is ludicrous is a non sequitur and defies logic, particularly when you do not propose an alternative model to discuss the original post. Oregon State was easily in the top 1/3 of all basketball teams this year and within the top 100. I would argue that the Beavers were better than some of what the Committee determined to be the top 50 this year but were undervalued, because they dropped some non-conference games when not at full strength and the other teams in the conference did not hold their own. However, to briefly address some thing mentioned by you, let's look at what are IMO the worst four teams that made the NIT as at large. Georgetown lost 5 of their last 9. One win was by two and the other came a the end of double overtime. Four of the losses were laughers, including by 13 to #5 Creighton, by 15 to #3 Seton Hall, and by 32 to cellar-dwelling DePaul on the final Wednesday before the Big East Tournament started. Georgetown was bounced in the first game of the Big East Tournament by 16 points. Georgetown was given a three-seed in the NIT Tournament and was bounced at home by Harvard. Butler lost 9 of their last 13. Three of the wins were by 2, 4, and 5. The only win by more than 5 was by 13 against cellar-dwellar DePaul. Only 3 of the 9 losses were by single digits. The others included a 14-point loss against #5 Creighton, a 10 and 18 (at home) loss to Marquette, a 15-point loss against Seton Hall, and a 31-point loss against Nova. Three of the 9 losses were against #8 Providence, including a 6-point loss at home and a 13-point loss on the road. Butler was paired with Providence in the Big East Tournament and proceeded to lose by 23. Butler was given a five-seed in the NIT Tournament and lost to Nebraska in basketball. Toledo lost to Kent State in the regular season but earned the 2-seed in the MAC Tournament, losing their first game to Northern Illinois in what amounted to a home game. Toledo was given a six-seed and lost by 14 to Xavier, which subsequently lost to Texas. Texas plays Colorado tomorrow with a bid to the Garden on the line. San Diego lost 8 of their final 13, heading into the West Coast Conference Tournament. Two of the losses included getting swept by #8 Pepperdine (Oregon State won by 15) and by #3 BYU by 20. San Diego lost the other four games by a combined 65 points.

Your stats are cherry picking and meaningless. Cuz this team wasn't even close to either berth.

You really think one or two extra wins wouldn’t have put them in the NIT? With 9 one or two possession losses, this season literally could have swung a different way on one or two bounces of the ball on a rim. I’d say that’s pretty close. Not close would look like Robinson’s last year, 16 wins but the bulk of the losses by 10 points or more, that’s a LOT of changes in the way the ball bounced to get some extra wins.
