Off to a great start. May be difficult to keep him out the lineup.

Off to a great start. May be difficult to keep him out the lineup. he arrives with a pretty decent pedigree - most recently having a very good 2018 summer in a high caliber summer league.

Off to a great start. May be difficult to keep him out the lineup. Wasn’t Casey famous for saying “Players determine who is in the lineup”. McGarry is trying real hard to tell BeaverBats that he wants to be an everyday player

He looked very good last fall. He has earned this chance. I was surprised when he was not in the lineup yesterday.

In the New Mexico win on Friday, McGarry pinch hit for Armstrong and delivered a 2- RBI Texas League single over the second baseman's head in front of the RF. A key hit for the Beavs to keep the late inning rally alive.
Today against Gonzaga, McGarry was inserted into the starting lineup, hitting 6th in the order as the DH. He hit the ball sharply in all 4 at bats. In the second inning he singled and then singled again in the 3-run 4th inning before being thrown out stealing. In the 2 run 6th, he singled again. In the 7th, he blistered the ball again on 4-3 ground out.
McGarry looks good at the plate. He hits from from an open stance and moderate crouch similar to Rutschman. Good bat speed with solid contact. Disciplined hitter and appears to be selective. Haven't seen any glove work yet but he's 4 for 5 with 5 Ribbies early and that may earn him a start at 1B or LF.
Commited to OSU with the class of 2016 and was "stashed" with an OSU farm team at Tacoma CC. (Scholarship crunch).

McGarry also looked good in 2017 Fall ball. He broke his hamate bone in December, but he was still expected to play last season. He was on the roster when the team came to Surprise, but the hamate wasn't healed so he was redshirted with the hamate surgery. Otherwise, I think he was going to platoon at 1B against righty pitchers last season.

His counterpart is hitting ofer but is a team captain, pretty damn good defensively, and is an experienced CWS champion. Tough call to move him in to that spot but if he does, good on him.

[br I totally agree. But it was a year ago when McGarry broke his hamate bone. I posted on McGarry's sudden disappearance almost to this day. I am also a big Zak fan, so ZT in the line-up is good.
