Yep, kinda the point there. cheap, fast, pick what you want. In a world of cheap fast pizza, I am picking Mod over any mall pizza on this planet. I am taking Mod over $5 hot and ready little caesers all day everyday. I take my family there somewhat regularly because the Mod here in Salem is pretty big on fundraiser nights. I am going for somebody's band/sport team/club/DC trip or whatever all the time! I think Mod would be a huge hit in Corvallis. Woodstocks has greatly gone downhill in my opinion, and while I LOVE the Dream... the dream is a higher end pizza with the prices to match. We have to compare apples to apples. A place like the Dream ain't trying to be a place like Mod. poor college kids would love a fast, good, pizza for $8. Especially if opened somewhere in walking distance to campus. I'm not a huge pizza fan period. But, having college kids recently they say the $5 ubakes from Winco are the steal in Corvallis... great buy and taste/options. My go to was Winco (well, Cub Foods then) in my first undergrad tour of duty in the late 90's. I lived with a buddy in a little cheap run of apartments on Morris street behind Reser, in between Western and the Hwy. Jess Lewis was actually the manager of them. We'd either walk to the Superette market on Monroe, or if we were feeling fancy, pile into my utter POS 1990 S10 with the gawd-awful 2.8L v6 in it, and rumble down to cub foods to score a monster deli sandwich and a shasta cherry soda. We'd go back and play video games until all hours of the night, and we are talking PS1/OG Xbox era of games. Memories man.

Dont forget Nixon. 20,000 of those names belong to him. Without those other guys, there's no cluster for Nixon to inherit because we followed the advice of the advisors on the ground, realized the people in the North and South supported Ho, and were out of there by 1963. In fact, Nixon doesn't get elected in the first place, Johnson serves a second term. But Nixon did plenty of damage in the 1950's "We lost China to communism" raft of BS era that led to McCarthy and the hatred of all things Russia that negatively impacted US foreign policy in the Far East for the next 20 years, leading us to believe South Vietnam was even worth defending, propping up a puppet state like Taiwan, and acting as if "Red China" did not even exist. Nixon blew up LBJ’s peace negotiations by treasonous back channel communications w South Vietnam and telling them they’d get a better deal from his administration. When the Paris Peace Accords were finally signed in 1973, 4 years and 20,000 dead American soldiers later Nixon and Kissinger ended up offering effectively the same terms LBJ offered in 1968. That’s a lot of blood on Nixon and Kissinger’s hands.

That’s a lot of blood on Nixon and Kissinger’s hands. Yes, that's true. Bad decisions compounded by bad decisions, stretching all the way back to 1946 when the French were let back in and their policy of colonialism was allowed to continue. Our best last chance was in 1954, to pull out completely after the French were defeated and let the Vietnamese determine their own future. But the "Who lost China" blindly anti-communist crowd wasn't going to let that happen, because Ho would have easily been their choice to lead. We backed the wrong side. As far as pizza gies, I'm a Woodstock's guy. Not a big fan of ADP's crust, and the slices always taste dry.

Woodstocks is ok, but I have a big problem in that they pile on the veggies and then don't bake it long enough, the center of the pizza is soggy. Dream is still the best place around, but I have a soft spot for Pietro's of Salem, just off Market. It was the pizza of choice back when Salem was the bright lights of high school students from the small towns coming in to cruise the gut or take in a movie. Pietro's is crawling out of the BJs abyss. The original location (in Milwaukie) was purchased by people who worked there in the 70's and they are re-launching the chain. My favorite: Barmaid add fresh sliced tomatoes. I have fond memories of that place from high school (Clackamas) and still try to eat there when I'm in town. Other places with great pizza: Stark Street Pizza Papa Pete's Pizza Dirty Dave's Pizza

The last few times I had Woodstock’s it was great/mediocre/great/mediocre, seemed to vary depending on who made it. It was also about 12 bucks for a 8 inch pizza by the time I put the toppings I wanted on it. American dream has been consistently good, don’t get down there much though. Lately I’ve been doing 12 dollar Tuesdays at Papa Murphys and doctoring them up at home. I still only have pizza maybe 6-12 times a year if not traveling. Great stop on the way north after Beaver football games!

My Dad worked at Shakey's when he was an OSU in the 70's. My first job was washing dishes for Izzy's when I was 15. I later delivered pizzas for them. That was an awesome job. I made mad tips every night and didn't have to drive my own car!

That was years ago.
Has the Pietro's in Milwaukie been bought by them or another individual or group?

As far as pizza goes, I have several friends who travel a lot who swear by Happy Pizza in Cambodia, but they recommend you limit yourself to 2 slices.

Flying Pie (?) on Stark and 82nd in PDX is very good. Not sure if it's still there.
Big River in downtown Corvallis has decent pizza too.
