These guys have something good going on. 3 Pac-12 losses were against UW (clearly the class of the PAC), and @ both Arizona schools which is always a tough place to go get wins. at 14-7 and 6-3 I like where this team stands right now. The only sticking point for me at the moment is the lack of capitalizing on opportunities to get a big W that would boost the resumé. All 3 of those PAC losses were that opportunity, and @stl, A&M, and Mizzou were chances in the non-conference. If any of just ONE of those went our way, we would probably be having serious conversations about this team right now being right there for a tourney berth.
Hopefully a strong 2nd half of Pac-12 play leads to a good finish and some consideration. Would LOVE to see us win the next 3 (all very winnable) and get to 9-3 with some real momentum and try to get to 13-5 or better in conference play. This team can absolutely do it, especially with Tres having the type of games that win you POTY honors like he had tonight. I'm excited for this homestand coming up.

Interesting that Tres is still hobbled a bit....think where we’d be if he was healthy.

Interesting that Tres is still hobbled a bit....think where we’d be if he was healthy. Would love to see him get a little more rest this week against the bay area schools. Then a full week off before uo he'll probably be as healthy as he's gonna get once the CW rolls around.

VERY big win, road sweeps are obviously very rare at OSU, and not many teams are getting them this season. Ironically, Utah has one of them (Bay area sweep), and I believe UW is the only other. Oh, and OSU is the only Pac-12 team other than UW with a winning road record currently!
Winning on the road in front of 11K as an underdog, yea, that should build some confidence. Great to see Kelly finding his groove again as well!

Great sweep Beavs! Scrappy group, scrappy win. Not pretty, but more disciplined offense. We’re in a great position and can still improve by upping our assist numbers and cutting the turnovers. Hopefully this gives them confidence to carry forward.
Go Beavs!

Watching tsdtr @ Colorado tonight. Our win in Boulder on Thursday looks pretty good. Wow, 48-26 Buffs with 14 minutes left that's something. I agree I feel pretty good about our win, both wins as a matter of fact, after seeing that. We came out fresh after a taxing game against CU, and Oregon looks like they are either gassed or just completely outplayed. Either way you look at it it's only a positive for this team.

Despite what some say on this board, we are a very good offensive team. If we start getting some low post offense from Kelley, it adds another dimension. Where we lack is defense. We are not long and sometimes look lazy. Hollins is a huge upgrade when he is in the game. I only saw Campbell in flashes but could we ever use a uber-athletic physical guy on the perimeter. And I agree (not sure it was this thread) that a top four finish is everything for this team. Washington is huge favorite for #1 and OSU, ASU, USC, Arizona, and maybe UO will be fighting for #2 - #4.

We are a very different defense when it comes to defending the 2 and the 3. We are a very VERY good team defending the paint and our 2-Pt FG% D is 2nd in the conference and top 15 in the country according to the PAC-12 announcers tonight. Where I think the lack of length and the laziness you see comes up is our defense of the 3-Pt arc and giving up long rebounds cause of being in a zone most of the time. KK changes a lot of shots and is a big reason why our interior D is as good as it is, but I agree I'd love to see some better D on the perimeter from a few guys. I always hate seeing us play great D for 28-29 seconds and give up an open 3 at the end of the shot clock.
On a positive note, for most of the game today we played good D on the perimeter and didn't let their top 3 shooter get going until late. Utah shoots the 3 well and we defended it well for the most part today and was a big reason why we won the game.

It's HARD to get a road sweep. Going into the Colorado game, I saw somebody post that a failure by the Beavers to beat Colorado would show that the Beavers were not a good team. I wasn't sure about that. The win by the Beavers was somewhat discounted because "it's just Colorado". Utah is not considered a juggernaut either, but to get a road sweep does mean something. It could be argued that the Beavers should be more worn out after the hard-fought win over Colorado on Thursday than the ducks were after the win over Utah on Thursday. The Beavers could have had an excuse to get blown out today. But they didn't need the excuse. :-)

It's a weird season... certainly can't discount road wins considering we have more Pac12 roadies this season than a few seasons combined! Yet it just seems the league is so weak that you can't get really excited about what it all means. Do you consider 6-3 for a possible 10+ wins, or is a 3-6 finish possible as teams will improve, or aren't as bad as we think? In either case it really looks like a 2, maybe 3, team NCAA year. It also goes for individual players. Tres is playing good ball... but, come on, it's not at only 80%. Nor as another post suggested, that he's a "great athlete". He's not overly athletic for a top tier D1 hooper. Yet... he could be the POY. I think UW player might end up with that award if they go 15-3 or better and OSU fades. But, overall as a league there seemingly is a dearth of great talent. Just a weird season. Weird feel. And, as I've said before... we've not taken advantage of similar opportunities, time to finish!

Tres in the Pac overall:
- 2nd in scoring average, tops in overall points - 3rd in steals - 5th in rebounds - 8th in Assists, tops for forwards - 12th in FT% - 20th in FG%, despite teams game-planning him as the #1 threat - 20th in Blocks
I'm not sure what else he has to do for his own team's fans to back him as the POTY.

There are plenty on this board that can get excited about this team. Just because a few posters want to diminish what CT and the team are doing dosn’t mean fans cannot be fans. Just because the conference is down, doesn’t mean we cannot be excited for what is shaping up as a fun run to the season finish line.
The phrase “I’m just keeping it real” is not a green light to be rude, obnoxious, and un-civil. Could this team go 2-8 over the next 10 games...yep. I think and hope there is a better chance of 7-3 or 8-2. If they do this and don’t fade, TT will be in the discussion for post-season awards. GO BEAVS!

I always keep saying this team still has a lot left to play for in the season. It's the most complete team in the Pac-12 and have good chemistry. On top of the someone who will probably win the Pac-12 POY. Finish line is on the horizon!
