Tres and Reichle really doing well here in the second half. 55-45 Beavs. Couple huge plays by ZR. Steal and layup and then the drive and dish to Big G. Needed those! Short bench overall, Kelley, ZR, quick appearance by Vernon and that's it...

Lead up to 65-52 - very good penetration and passing to the bigs for easy buckets.

ZR has really done a nice job of drawing the defenders outs, then blowing by and dishing for the easy assist.

final stats hereimpressed with KK's line again: 10 7 and 3 blocked shots. He will be a pain in the ass for opposing teams no question.

Solid win over the team picked to finish 2nd in the Ivy League - good bounce back performance. 4-1 overall ain't bad.

Nice to pull away and take care of business. Saw some halftime adjustments on the defensive end for sure. Great contributions by KK and ZR. Tres was excellent on offense.
ET really struggled most of the tournament. For some reason the baseline is his magnet and for some reason when he gets there he decides to pick up his dribble.
Onward...

So can we be happy for a while? nope not until beavs beat Dartmouth or Yale for the Ivy league champeenship. And when that happens that means an NCAA appearance! In all seriousness though, this was a good win and agree with an above poster that it was nice to see the team pull away in the 2nd half. Tres couldn't miss in the 2nd half and set a career high with 32 points. Great to see him have 2 games already this year where he has been able to completely take over.
Would have really liked to have won yesterday and gotten a chance to play KState. That would have been huge for SOS/RPI and building a tournament resumé but 4-1 is the record that I hoped we would have at this point. Get a road win over Long Beach next weekend and bring a 5-1 record back to Gill and I'll be pretty pleased overall with how the non-conference season has started.

A good win, and we even showed halftime adjustments (and the team responding to the adjustments). Penn is a well coached team, but not nearly as physical and/or physically talented as Missou was (Missou also played with an attitude).
We are still leaving points on the table with our penchant for missing 1-1s, though when you are 9-14 you are making more than missing. We had one bench mistake with about 11 minutes left to go, and that was that even after a media timeout, somehow no one of the floor knew there were only 6 seconds left on the shot clock. In this game both of these items were laughing matters, but down the stretch not so much.
E. Thompson and Reichle still need to find their shot this season, but I bagged on Reichle for the Missou game, he sure came back with a vengeance and contributed in this outing. We also need to find more PG relief for Ethan - I think it exists on the bench but it is not being cultivated too hard.....
I thought today's game was the best played of the 3 at the tournament for the Beavers, maybe we are starting to hit a stride. 4-1 at this point is reasonable, hopefully we can end out of conference at 9-3 or 10-2 (or 11-1?)....that and a .500 conference record should put us on the NCAA bubble or in the NIT.
Go Beavers!

Go Beavers! one game at a time. Long Beach State will be another step up the ladder if they can get it. Not sure what "step" you may be referring to, but... and 5 games is a very very small sample size... LBSt (rated about #198/353) is NOT a Pac12 level team (UCLA and ASU beat them by a combined 43 at home... OSU, Furd, and SC also on the road later)... only W's are vs Iona and Menlo... not considered "better" than Missouri (#84), ODU (#100), Penn (#141) Wyoming (#190)... only UC Riverside rated below them at #315. LBSt has played a tougher schedule (#13 vs #201) than OSU (rated #75) to go 2-3 ... gets more possessions/40 min (75 vs 68). Glad this one is at home, but this should be a W... LBSt averaging 20 turns a game (almost every player has more TOs than A), shoots 40%, and gives up 80 pts/g. Scariest stat to me... OSU is ranked #328/353 in the # of possessions per 40 minutes. When you are getting a low number of possessions the margin for error is very slim. Taking care of the ball and shooting percentage (FG and FT) are vital for success.
