Not even in the top 30 or more of OSU ALL-TIME GREATS... He's not even played his junior year yet. I'm having a tough time coming up with more productive/dominating players at their positions at OSU prior to their junior years in the time I've been following OSU basketball (since '76 except for a few years in the 2000's when I lived 3000 miles away and couldn't get OSU games on TV). Maybe Steve Johnson and GP. I can think of a bunch that were pretty impressive by the time their junior or senior years ended, but not performing to the level that Tres has played in their first 65 games. I would not be the least bit surprised to see him go in the first two/three rounds in the draft if he decides to go after this season. That would definitely put him in the top 30.

Well unfortunately, there's only 2 rounds in the NBA draft But I agree, he was first team all Pac-12 last year and was in the top 15? I think in every major statistical category in the conference. The dude knows how to fill up the stat sheet, that much is for sure.

I'm not going to argue opinion, nor stats and awards (some don't realize the talent this league had and to have great stats or be named All-Conference was nearly impossible in some years) as its irrelevant in comparing eras. I could just as easily say being injured makes him a Jr, but he still was in the program and receiving all of the advantages and was a Jr last year in every respect other than playing eligibility... playing in an era of maybe the weakest years of Pac12 (Pac10/Pac8) hoops I've witnessed... playing in a concept based on individuals vs team play... playing with some of the weakest supporting casts... playing for any other coach he'd not have gotten the same "emphasis". But, again just speculation/opinion. I'll venture this, could be wrong... but, unless he's completely dominate and improved his athleticism this season(and maybe be able to use his right hand!) he's not going anywhere this year. If you think TT can guard any 3 or 4 in the NBA you'd have to be talking bottom of the barrel NBA 3/4's who don't get much time... if even then. If GP can't get more than a sniff, TT is not as he's in a position group that is outrageously talented at the NBA level. I'm hoping to see a "TEAM"... player development, depth, offensive scheme, etc... not the TT and ST show putting up 51%+ of our shots.

I've preferred college ball for a long time, hated it when college added the shot clock. I can remember when they cut the NBA draft to 10 rounds.

If he finishes his Jr year like he did last year - he is top 30 in my book. Sure we have had Swede, Mel, Lonnie, Lester, Steve Johnson, Charlie, A.C., Gary Sr., Bones Barry, David, Jared, Gary Jr.....but that still leaves a lot of slots, and Tres belongs in that top 30 selection.

not the TT and ST show putting up 51%+ of our shots.
NOT being snarky here. But unless you have an exceptionally balanced team, don't the two best players on a team usually combine for more than 40% of the shots? Don't you want your best players taking most of the shots?
Seriously, I'm not sure what the percentage should be. Last year they combined for 813 of our 1,779 shots, or 46%. Villanova was the national champ. Their two top players combined to take 41% (993-2440). That 5% differential comes out to 88 total shots, over a 30+-game season. Or roughly three shots a game, combined.

There's no way you can win with just two players accounting for 40% of the starts, either. I did a quick look of the bottom 10 teams in last year's RPI, and in every case their top two players had 40% of the starts. You would think that Coach Tinkle would spread it around better.
Just scanning the Pac-12, it looks like on average over all the teams, the top two players typically account for 35-45% of FGA's. According to ESPN, our two ball-hogs took 45.6% of our shots, which is somewhat higher than average but hardly outrageously so.

Huge TT fan, he's one of the best CBB players in the nation. His injury was a damn shame!

Huge TT fan, he's one of the best CBB players in the nation. His injury was a damn shame! No... just no. Unless your "one of the best" in the nation goes into the 100+ area. TT is a good player, but no where near elite NBA type of talent. Without going to look there are 7-8 Pac12 players in the top 60 right now in terms of the draft. TT is not one. Louis King,Fr,Oregon as high as #10 Bol Bol, Fr, Oregon Wooten, So, Oregon Dort, Fr, ASU Hands, So, UCLA Kris Eilkes, So, UCLA Kevin Porter, Fr, SC Some have as many as 17-20 frosh in the top 60, with a couple G leaguers, and several foreigners (not part of "in the nation "). TT will be back as a Sr unless he wants to follow Drew overseas.

I'm a half-full person. Tinkle was one of the top five in the Pac-12 last year. He did it with being 6'6-1/2" (my guess), being almost exclusively left-handed, and not overly athletic. I've seen some of his photos on instagram this summer and as a guess he will play next year at 15 pounds heavier. Seeing how hard he works, I'm guessing he is working many hours a day on his right-hand and the ability to elevate off the dribble and get a shot. He's never going to be super athletic or a legit 6'8". If he plays the year without injury, there will be no discussion if he is a top-10 all OSU.

Stevie is listed at 6'4 but probably is 6 2 -1/2, Seth listed at 6'5 is maybe 6'4 and so on. But go ahead and apply that same scale to any Pac 12 roster. His game is not about out leveraging you anyway. He can make shots from so many different angles. That skill translates to the NBA in my opinion. The "moneyball" statistic in the NBA is points per minute and i think Tres will surprise.
